Each week I bring you vintage early radio items. I have been collecting radios, phonographs, and music boxes for 45 years, and always have something interesting for sale. Here up for bid is this extremely rare circa 1936 Detrola model 104E "Executive Desk Set" Radio receiver, with Gilbert Rohde Clock and Barometer, and Ashtray. Also there are two writing pens, and a thermometer. This radio is very rare as only a handful were made. If you google Detrola 104E model number you will see th...is radio. The Herman Miller furniture company made the cabinet, after hiring famous designer Gilbert Rohde to design it. The wood case is solid, and the original finish looks great. The chassis is clean and complete. The filter capacitors were replaced. The radio plays when plugged in and long antenna wire is used. The radio, clock, and thermometer, and barometer are all working. This radio was presented to a Westinghouse employee in 1937. You can still read the nameplate. The radio has the original back, and inside paper tag with wiring diagram. This is an amazing radio you will love. I bet you do not have this one.
