1908 CAST IRON AMERICAN VAULT FLOOR SAFE FIGURAL STILL BANK By KLOTZ IRON BARS
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:59041 |
This very attractive, Cast Iron Still Bank measures approx. 7 1/4" tall and 4 1/2” by 4 1/4” at the base. It is made in the form of a Floor Safe and features elaborately cast panels and top which include images of flow...ers and flourishes. The vault door is hexagonal and opens with a key (the door is open but we do not have the key). Cast text on the door reads “American Vault”. There is an iron bar grate that mounts over the front of the Bank as can be seen in the scans below. Text cast into the back panel reads “Pat. Nov. 3, 1908”.
This original, Klotz “American Vault” Floor Safe Form Still Bank displays nicely but has had a professional repair to the front, right hand corner at the top and also has damage to the surround at the keyhole (see the scans below). The locking mechanism appears intact and working but we do not have the key for the lock. The Bank retains approx. 60% of its original; silver and gold gilt surface paint with most of the paint loss to the top panel of the Safe. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the form and condition of this rare, large size, Cast Iron Still Bank.
An exceptionally rare and very desirable, Klotz 1908 Cast Iron, “American Vault” Still Bank / Floor Safe Form Toy Bank and, with all faults, still a fine addition to any collection!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges: The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.ATTENTION FRIENDS!!!We are pleased to announce the start up of a second weekly auction by WALNUTTS-2.0!!!
