Up for auction is a rare vintage RODAN toy/figure from 1979, made by MATTEL, and he's in perfect shape!
I got this toy myself from Toys R Us back in 1979 with birthday money, so I am the original owner!
This beautiful rare Rodan toy is in great shape as I never played with him! The toy is complete with both wings and removeable back. It also comes with his original box, instructions, and cardboard insert. T...here are three of the original rubber bands left over in the original bag, but they dried out years ago. Rodan is in absolute perfect shape! The paint in his eyes is in perfect condition, as are his yellow painted toenails! His beak and neck move perfectly, and can easily still hold a pose and make "squaking" sounds! When rubber bands are inserted into his claws, they grab with ease! When rubber bands are placed in his back by his wings, they flap nicely! Wings themselves are in great shape, as is his "back" panel and tabs securing the panel. The box is in amazing shape for it's age. There is some wear on the sides and corners from being in storage, but the main photos on the front and sides are still in excellent shape! What's funny is that the toy manufacturer actually placed a sticker on the front saying "Wingspan 38 inches", as it covers the spot on the box that says "Wingspan 41 inches"! The cardboard insert is original and is also in perfect shape. The directions are complete, but there is a bit of discoloration on the front. Still, it is complete! PLEASE LOOK CAREFULLY AT ALL OF THE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS!
As I mentioned, I never played with my Rodan toy. I instead chose to display him up on a shelf for a short time, but after a while when I got smaller monsters Rodan seemed to take up too much space due to his wingspan. So, I ended up putting him back in his box where he remained in storage for over 30 years! Now this rare toy can be yours!
I am not a professional toy dealer, but to me this RODAN from 1979 is in excellent, "MINT" shape! If you should have any questions, please ask BEFORE bidding! RODAN comes from a smoke free home.
