Vintage C1910 " Salter Standard No. 7 " Typewriter

This scarce "Salter Standard" "No.7" typewriter was first produced in 1907 by "George Salter and Company" of West Bromwich, England. "Salters" were, and are, well known for making weighing scales. The first typewriter they produced, the "No. 5", was manufactured in 1892. When the keys are depressed firmly, the type bars strike the platen, unfortunately, the carriage doesn't move along when typing, but it does move when pushed when the space bar is used, the space bar doesn't depress v...ery far, as it gets caught on the ribbon key. The carriage does rotate well.There are no cracks or chips to the black painted body, however, there are areas of paint loss, mainly to the edges and sides.The gold lettering, logos and the red and gold lining has retained a good colour and is stylish to the front writing is legible.The plated metal parts do have a loss of nickel finish and there is also surface rust to them, I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.The serial number is "10.815"The key board has all of its' keys and these are undamaged, however, some of the celluloid coverings are stained.
