Lge Early 20th Cent Antique Nun’s/Clergy Ebony & Nickel Pectoral Crucifix CrossHere is a large pectoral cross that would have been worn by a nun or a member of the clergy. We date it to the early years of the 20th century though it could be a little older. It comprises sars made of ebony in a solid nickel fram. It has the classical depiction of Christ. Above his head is a nimbus with radiating edge and the “INRI” scroll for the Latin phrase 'Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum'. At hi...s feet there is the skull and crossed bone symbol that refers to the hill on which Jesus was crucified; it was called "Golgotha, " place of the skull. It is in good vintage condition; some light wear and good warm patina; one piece of the cross bones fell off during photography and is missing.
