A GREAT Antique Original 17th Century Brass Capstan Candlestick Circa 1650 Just As Seen in Reference Books of Period Lighting!

This piece was purchased out of a Private New England Lighting Estate assembled decades and decades ago focusing on period early lighting and metalware. This piece has not been brought to market and was asse...mbled by a collector who traveled extensively to find original period 17th century lighting. We have purchased a handful of these Early Brass Candlesticks out of said collection. Each was found tucked away in a corner cupboard and are in the condition they were found. They were literally unmoved or handled for an untold number of years. This candlestick could be cleaned up and polished if one chose to undertake the time and effort. We personally feel the need to offer them in their original as found patina and character; though again the purchaser could display them in what ever means they see fit and at their discretion. Circa 1650, the style and formation is attributed almost certainly to Europe (Likely Spanish) though many immigrated in American during the Colonial Period. Again this piece was found in a New England Collection alongside some other articles of period furnishings we'll be offering.This example is in a great period form, again circa 1650; mid 17th century.
About Very Good+ condition on the piece. Some slight signs of wear from age in the form of some slight pitting the the surface of the drip pan, small 1/4" denting on the bottom rim. All signs of age one would expect from a candlestick of this age.
No repairs to this piece; again some typical wear from centuries of age and use.
Please take a moment to view all the images. Stands approximately 5 1/2" tall with a base diameter of 5 1/4".Similar designs can be seen in countless reference books on the subject of 17th century lighting.
Nice formation of two ejector holes on each side of the candlesocket that would have allowed a user to work out the last bits on the candle. Very typical of the period and style.
