DIVINE ANTIQUE FRENCH LINEN DOWRY SHEET CROWN & MONOGRAM OF A MARQUIS c1890
This is a magnificent antique French hand embroidered linen dowry trousseau sheet from the late 1800s that carries a the monogram and couronne crown of a Marquis. An amazing quality large sheet in superb condition that was hand worked by a very accomplished hand. The linen is old white and the embroidery catches the light perfectly.&n...bsp;It is pure linen and a smooth tactile weave. The edge has a very very fine drawn threadwork border. The monogram and crown display measures 18cms x 17cms and sits 28cms from the edge. The monogram letters are embellished with dots and rosebuds with foliage. The overall size is: Length 340cms Width 245cms There is no damage or wear and I can see just pale lines from armoire storage that should remove with a launder. An amazing confection with an aristocratic connection perfect for any chateau inspired boudoir. All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling. I do my best to make my descriptions as accurate as possible but please do not bid if you are looking for pristine items; you will not find them in my auctions!
