I was lucky to get a few items at the auction for the Melrose Mansion here in Reidsville owned by Governor Hugh Reid Scott. This is one of the items. His daughter Cecilia had some very unique toys. This rare black cat is unmarked but i'll bet it is German in origin. The scary eyes are paper inserts that are original to the piece. The nose and mouth are painted and their is a red ribbon that is original. It measures 4 inches high and 3 1/2 inches across.&nb...sp; It has the original bail wire handle but I think it was moved vertical instead of horizontally.
