Chinese Vintage Embroidery - Brightly Colored Wedding Panel Folk Art
This extraordinary piece has some age to it as I've had it for over 30 years. Believe me that the colors have not been retouched in these photos, they are really this bright. The base looks like a handwoven jade silk damask. All the symbols for a wedding are depicted, the Phoenix, the Peony and the Qi Lin and Butterflies. The red backing cotton is hand sewn around the edges. The second photo showi...ng the white outline thread that is over-stitched, looks like a stitch done or embroidery done on the southern border areas of China.
