Thank you for being here. I hope you are having a great day. The case measures approximately 3-1/4” x 3-5/8”. I did notremove the ambrotype (glass photo) from the preserver, because I didn’t want torisk messing up the back surface. This is not the original case, but it does awonderful job of protecting her.The image has evident discoloration along the edges, a tarnishedoval. There’s black spottiness throughout the image. On the far right edge, youcan see metal behind the image ...(shown in the eighth photo). When you look at the back, you can see that there is a 1/8”area of loss (close-up shown in the eleventh photo). This loss is most obviouswhen the photo is held up to a light (shown in the ninth photo). The edges ofthis spot of loss are vulnerable to additional flaking if not handledcarefully.The back of the ambrotype has smudges, fingerprints, scuffsand that sort of wear. Crudeness.There’s a good deal of dirtiness underneath the front glass.The mat has a lot of ugly corrosion, large areas and spots of oxidation. Thecase hinge is terribly torn, the two pieces are barely holding together. The caseexterior is rough with evident wear. Worn and dulled.Please look to the provided pics to best judge what you arebidding on.I have more antique images from the same estate collectionlisted this week.
