5 Vintage Important Paintings Collage Artwork Modernism by Maud Cabot Morgan 1979. All are signed in pencil lower right corner Maud Morgan '79. The back side has titled Green Point Series and numbers 16, 20, 41, 42 & 43. All the artworks measure 24 7/8" x 27 5/8". I have 2 original white poster mattes that measure 26" x 29". These originally were acquired in large heavy steel & glass frames and the glass had cracked as they were nearly impossible to transport so I removed them ...from the frames. No frames include, 4 are essentially fine and 1 has a small area with a couple edge tears and wrinkles (the collage parts are fine, just the white edge area) - see my 12 detailed photos. This collage form was a type Maud was well known for. She has a fascinating history and was friends with some off the most famous artists of the 20th century. Maud Morgan is known for abstract expression, collage.Maud Cabot Morgan, known for her collages, but working in several painting, drawing and print media, exhibited in two and five-person shows with artists of major reputation, including Alexander Calder, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Walter Murch and Richard Pousette-Dart.Morgan was born in New York City in 1903, receiving a B.A. degree in 1926 from Barnard College there. In 1929, she studied at the Art Students League with Kimon Nicolaides. From 1932 to 1940, she worked with abstractionist Hans Hofmann from time to time. She was married to artist Patrick Morgan, with whom she exhibited in 1951 in New Haven, Connecticut, at the Yale University Art Gallery.Her work is in the collections of the New York City museums and she is a very well known listed artist.
