Original Description:
On offer is this rare French curio - a small lidded canister - the lid of which has the initials 'N de D' with a 'Duke' crown above (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_(heraldry)).  There is a door on the side which opens to reveal a praying Virgin Mary.  The sides are decorated with the symbolic fleur de lys.  Gilt interior to the lid and door.As to the purpose of this piece, I am only guess it may have been a snuff box.3.4cm height.  Diameter of 1....9cm.
In good condition. Would benefit from a closer polish - selling as found (purchased on a recent trip to France).  Please consider photos.
