An uncommon opportunity to add these rarities from closed NH ski areas to your collection.
Here's a trio of seldom-seen old ski area patches. Information about the areas comes from the NELSAP website, which is operated by the New England Lost Ski Areas Project.
* Woody Glen, Salisbury, NH - opened in 1968 and closed in the mid-1990s. Attractive embroidered patch is a...n unused sew-on that looks like it was made in the mid-1970s.
* Sargent Camp (Boston University), Hancock, NH - 1960s-late 1970s. Located in NH's White Mts and operated by Boston University; it had a single rope tow. Unused sew-on patch is in fine condition.
* Thorn Mountain, Jackson, NH - 1947-1956. Two chair lifts, 800+-foot vertical, 20 slopes ... Thorn was a distinctive ski area that featured a view of nearby Mt. Washington. Patch is c. 70 years old and was previously sewn to a ski bag. Nevertheless, it remains in what I'd call good condition without tears or holes (see photos).
Note: I have never seen another Woody Glen patch for sale on eBay in nearly 15 years of following these auctions carefully. I've seen one other Thorn patch that matches this design, and maybe 2-3 others for Sargent Camp. Rare? I'd say so!
Patch measurements vary between approx. 2-1/8" (Thorn diameter) to 4-1/2" (Woody Glen length).
