This superb quality oak shotgun or rifle case has solid brass fittings and central flush folding handle. Unfortunately, there is no key.The hinges at the back are solid and the lid is well attached.The oak has developed a fabulous patina and depth of colour over the years, however, there are the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you would expect from a well used item of this age and use.The folding handle has been nailed closed and a leather handle has been added to the front at ...some point and the escutheon plate has been replaced with a three pence piece.The two brass catches work well.I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.The interior has been re-lined with deep green baise. the two lidded compatments have what appear to be their original knobs.The case measures 83 cm (32 1/2 inches) long and is 25 cm (9 3/4 inches) wide. Rifle or Shotgun Motorcase. This superb quality oak shotgun or rifle case has solid brass fittings and central flush folding handle. Unfortunately, there is no key.The hinges at the back are solid and the lid is well attached.
