UNIX WIZARD Vintage Poster for sale. Extremely Rare piece of artwork. UNIX Wizard - The classic UNIX magic poster by Gary Overacre was distributed at past USENIX conferences and featured a white bearded wizard with UNIX related objects around him, for example a spool of thread, a black cat, a boot, a fork, pipes, buckets, a number of containers labeled with abbreviations like tar, null, ask, us place, etc. The Wizard is pouring mysterious liquids into a giant shell. Subsequent posters ...in the series include UNIX Wars (Feuds) (for sale as well) and UNIX Views (super rare, sold already). This poster was on mat, framed and stored in a smoke free, climate controlled location at the original lab. Image is perfect yet the top of the both posters have some taping due to wear and tear over the years. Will be sent on poster board backing, frameless, and laminated as shown in the pictures. Original owner and former employee had these in his office while developing UNIX! Dates from early 1980's and the early computer age; the same lab some of the most important people in the tech industry worked in. Background of Unix Magic ‘87, Unix Views ‘89, Unix Feuds ‘90: These posters turn up in auction houses and Ebay from time to time and can sell for as low as 450 each or as high as 1500$ as I have seen on EBAY and other sites. A previous detail of sale for an Original print of UNIX Views supposedly sold in 2008 for $15, 000. A previous sale of all three of these sold several years ago on Ebay for about $280000. Overseas these sell for more. The impact of UNIX can be seen in everyday with programming languages galore. Dimensions, 24 “w x 36” h (with some extra due to lamination to protect the posters). Due to rarity of this artwork shipping costs are listed at $40.00, professionally packaged and shipped. Continental US only please or local pickup. Contact for more details.
