Original Description:
WELCOME to ROUND TWO of my theme park props auctions!

Over the past week I have started cleaning out my collection of almost 30 years, as I am getting to the point where I want to have a simpler life and not obsess over collecting the next big thing. I have been collecting Disney park props..., Disney Animation artwork, and movie props -- as well as other cool things, and I have split up my listings of the theme park props into two parts. As the first round of items are ending this week,  I am going to start listing the last of my pieces, and once they are done, that part of my collection will be gone. I will then move on to clearing out some of the Disney animation pieces I have collected. If you are interested in animation art, please check back to view my listings.

A WORD OF ADVICE ABOUT COLLECTING:

Let me first start off with the preface that I know buying Disney theme park items can be a slippery slope and one that should be approached with caution, especially online. I see many sellers here with an endless supply of items, and a steady stream of pieces on a weekly basis, which should raise some red flags. While the parks do refresh rides and refurbish them, they hardly do it enough where one seller will have weekly pieces to sell. It just doesn't work that way. Those sales seem highly questionable to me and you should speak with the seller to get as much information about the lineage of the items and the chain of ownership.

That being said, I do have a few remaining Disney related park items that I will finish listing over the next week or so, but I only have a handful of items and once they are gone, that is it; I am not one of those sellers who miraculously has that endless supply. I have been surrounded by people working at Walt Disney World for nearly 30 years now, and I even worked there for a good while before moving on to a different career. I have had friends in Ride & Show, in costuming, in characters, in Imagineering and even in Feature Animation.  I have accumulated some pretty nice stuff over the years, some I have kept, some I gave away and some I did sell. Unfortunately, due to space and changing interests, I find it is time to move on and let the rest of these cherished items go.

PLEASE NOTE:

Not every piece I am selling will have a COA, as some items were given to me and not purchased through a store, so they didn't come with one. But... I will be available to answer any of your questions about the item and I will include a LOA about how the item came into my possession. Those items purchased through stores will usually have a COA or LOA from the retail establishment and will be included. Each individual listing will state if a LOA or COA comes with the item..

SOME BACKGROUND:

My ex-wife worked in Ride & Show Engineering and my best friend of nearly 20 years, worked with both Ride & Show as well as with Imagineering. He was responsible for photographing all props, set pieces and ride vehichles that were created in the Central Shops, while she was responsible for keeping records and cataloging all blue prints and concept drawings by the Imagineers. Through these connections, as well as some purchases online, through back stage Property Control sales, and at stores like Theme Park Connection and Sid Cahuenga’s One-of-a-Kind Antiques and Curios shop, in MGM Studios (Now Hollywood Studios), I have acquired the bulk of my collection.

As stated above, my friend used to be the person to photograph not only the props that left the shops, but also the props that came back in, as well as photos on site of the refurbishment process. He would catalog the props and then they either went off to storage or they got tossed in boxes. And this is where he would come through for me. He knew I was a big Disney fan, and any cool smaller prop pieces that didn't have a need for safe keeping in storage, he would sometimes bring them to me. He would also rescue pieces from the refurbishments for me as a memento, even if it were the smallest item like a napkin, a pieces of fabric or a piece of wallpaper. Every-so-often when we would meet for dinners or lunches, he would hand me a box with some various pieces and then tell me which ride they came from. It was exciting because you never knew what would be next to find its way into your hands.

Sadly, I no longer have those connections that I used to have. The wife (from then) and I are divorced, and my friend passed away a few years back. His widow does have an abundance of signs and props, but she has decided to hold on to those for now. I have had a few discussions with her about letting them go, so if that day comes, I might list them here for her or aid her in setting up an account to sell them herself. But for now, she has chosen to hold on to the items.

PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND:

I will NOT end the listing early for a buy it now. It is not fair to those who are watching or already bidding. I also will NOT split up an auction. More than a few of these listings will contain a couple items in the "lot" for sale. I am selling the items as I had displayed them. If an auction has two or four items, I am not looking to separate them individually and milk sales. I have displayed them proudly on a base in my collection, and I feel the collection of items should remain together and in the given display. Should you choose to buy the lot and sell off the pieces individually, then the more power to you and I hope that flips you a nice profit.... but please note that I do not want to do that and I will not field offers to do so.

ABOUT THE ITEM FOR SALE: This is an original park used lantern prop from Disney World’s PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN RIDE.
This was removed during refurbishments as it stopped working. Does not work and is for display purposes only.
This comes mounted on wood wall plaque and is ready for hanging.
Brass is corroded and has patina to it, and glass is discolored.
Dimensions seen in photos.
Does not have an official COA as it was given to me, but I will include a LOA stating how I acquired the piece.
THE ITEMS LISTING TONIGHT ARE MY LAST PARK PIECES. I CHECKED BOXES AND NOTHING IS LEFT. I WILL NOT HAVE ANY MORE AFTER THIS LAST ROUND, SO DO NOT HESITATE TO BID AND GRAB ONE.
