Scarce ephemera item from the building of the Panama Canal
An Isthmian Canal Commission "Hotel Book" used in Culebra division.
The owner, W.D. Stanton, was an engineer who worked for a decade at the Panama Canal in different locations. I've attached a photo of a newspaper article about him written a year after the coupon book was issued. (I don't have the original newspaper article, just a digital scan.) Issued in October, 1905. "Value $15.00 gold"Origin...ally contained 60 coupons -- still holds 5 pages with two coupons each.
