Here's a beautiful, all-original 1923 Atwater Kent Radiodyne Receiving Set, the company's first five-tube TRF breadboard radio and the subject of a lawsuit filed by the Western Coil Company, to whom the "Radiodyne" trademark had already been granted. Unlike later breadboards, the Radiodyne had more than forty brass binding posts [47 to be exact] , metal tags on the RF coils that identify them as Radiodyne transformers, and components that are all wired externally. Original and Correct ...... Original Paper Tags (3), Original Board Finish, Original Feet, Original Wiring, Original Staples, Original Green Paint, Original AF Transformers, Original B+ Bypass Cap; Original Potting Tar. Comes with Display/Dud Tipped Tubes ... A Very Nice Unmolested Radiodyne The radio is original throughout, including the board, the board's finish, the wiring, the feet, the staples, the 3 paper tags on the underside of the board, the green paint on the TA island, the green paint on the early Type F tuning condensers, the binding post nuts, the speaker screws on the TA island, etc.Early serial number [see pix of tag], and all three RF transformers are identified as "Radiodyne Transformers" on their metal tags, so the radio is a true Radiodyne, not a hybrid 4340, as many of the later production examples are. As you can see, there's paint wear on the tuning condensers and TA island, but the paint overall is better than what you typically find on a Radiodyne. Both of the audio frequency transformers in the TA island are original. I just barely opened the TA unit to check and the potting tar in the TA island is also original, as is the wiring. Wood finish is original, with normal wear and crazing, but overall clean and presents beautifully. Please note that this radio is approx 96 years old and while it is in awesome original condition ... The radio is being offered for historical and/or collecting purposes only, with no assurances -- implied or otherwise that you'll be able use it for broadcast reception ..... I will pack everything carefully and properly .. the display tubes will be removed from the sockets and shipped in individual boxes. The set measures approx 10" X 31.5" X 6" to the tops of the tubes and very well packed shipping weight {outer box 36" X 18" X 12"} will be 28 pounds from zip code 24012. As a possible alternative to shipping ... I'd be glad to deliver the set to the June 27-29 radio meet in Beltsville, MD.
