From the estate of a serious collector, we are selling an1945 Sentinel model 284 Catalin Bakelite radio. It’s the only Catalin radio model to have the chassis mounted upside down. That allows for having the controls at the top, and of course, inside the tubes are hanging upside down. The case is a rounded Catalin design with a “Wavy Grille”. The size is about 11″ wide, 7″ high & 6″ Deep. This version of the Sentinel has a case that’s sand in color... with an abundance of white swirls. This version also has butterscotch knobs and grill. The knobs and face appear to be original. The body is in good condition. It turns on and after warming up I was able to pick up a few stations. I did not leave it on for very long. Please note we are not radio experts but are willing to look over the radio with any questions you may have.On Jun-07-19 at 05:16:42 PDT, seller added the following information:For those of you interested in overseas delivery: I have not shipped a radio overseas before. I could certainly look into the cost involved if you are seriously interested in bidding. I ship the radios out double boxed. This means that I encase the radio in bubble wrap - secure it in a box - wrap that box with bubble - then secure it in a second box. This is the safest way to ship these fragile pieces of electronics. The final box is 16 in X 16 in X 16 in and is around 1 lb - 2 lb This should give you some idea for costing this out.
