Here for auction we have a very old Mask Mug / Toby Style for you, this was probably produced in Staffordshire somewhere between 1810-1820, i am fairly sure on the age as the style is similier to the Lord Rodney one that bonhams had for auction., this has a definate lip around the Rim indicating it was produced for drinking from, the decoration on the top is a grape vine and has been hand painted as well as the rest of it , the paint job on this is not top quality as you can tell from ...the photos so could indicate it was a trial piece or just cheaply painted when it was made, condition wise not bad for its age there are a couple of little surface chips on the rim and a larger one mainly on the inside rim, a few little scrapes on the glaze on the front like the nose end, crazing with age which is to be expected, the Firing on this did not go great there are quite a few faults in the firing of the glaze and pottery and the odd pinhole in it, but nothing major like cracks or chips with it, as far as i can tell this has not had restoration i cannot see any areas that may have been touched up or repaired, this measures 5.5 inches or 14.5cms in height
