Disneyland Haunted Mansion Mens Cast Member costume uniform - from 1980's. Condition is Used. Shipped via UPS Ground with tracking number.
Up for auction is a genuine Disneyland Cast Member mans butler uniform or "costume" for the Haunted Mansion.
This three piece suit was found in a plastic bag at the back of a closet of a non-smoking West Coast home, and the man who owned the home worked at Disneyland in the 1980's as a ride operator. The material is unknown as ther...e are no tags in the clothing aside from the "Disneyland Anaheim, Calif. Made in USA" tags, but my guess is that it is a poly/wool blend. The green fabric has nice heft to it and drapes well. All three pieces were likely last dry cleaned by Disneyland in the 1980's, but there are no wrong creases or damage to the fabric. It came from a non-smoking home and is odor free, except for the faint smell of vintage fabric and dry cleaning one would expect for a 30+ year old suit. The suit is in great condition, obviously lightly used decades ago, but it is not faded or damaged and presents as very good looking and fresh when worn. I've seen actual Haunted Mansion Cast Members wearing worse looking uniforms at Disneyland today! There are no bar codes or other interior markings, aside from the "Disneyland Anaheim, Calif." tags on each piece.
The size on the official Disneyland tag in the butler's long-tails jacket lists this faintly as a "46L", as seen in the photos, although it's closer to a 44L by today's larger standards. The jacket measures roughly 23 inches from armpit to armpit, roughly 25 inches from shoulder seam to end of arm cuff, and roughly 45 inches from the top of the black velvet collar to the bottom of the split long tail hems. I had a man who wears a 44 Long try on this jacket and it fit him nicely with a bit of room through the chest and torso. All exterior buttons are in place, and the jacket is fully lined in black rayon with two interior chest pockets, one of which has a duplicate "Disneyland Anaheim, Calif." tag on it as seen in photos. The fabric is clean and overall undamaged, although there are some shiny parts of the fabric at some seams as the coat has likely been dry cleaned repeatedly when it was being worn at Disneyland in the 1980's. The fabric is in very good condition and could easily be tailored. I could not find any marks or stains inside or outside the fabric of the jacket.
The black and purple striped butler's vest is the real star here, as it has six brass-toned buttons that are five-eighths inch across and engraved "Disneyland U.S.A." with a small castle on each button. The vest is very faintly marked with a "L" on the interior tag, and it fit well for the same man who wears a 44 Long that tried on the jacket. The fabric material is unknown, but my guess is that it is polyester, maybe a poly/wool blend. The interior of the vest is fully lined in black rayon. There are four small lined breast pockets on the exterior of the vest. While the vest is used and once worn at Disneyland, it is in very good condition overall and I could find no damage or stains inside or out on the vest. A great piece!
The green pants complete this suit, and they are faintly listed as size "36-32" on the inside Disneyland label. That sizing appears to be accurate, and the inside hem is 32 inches and a man who normally wears a size 36 waist trouser found them to be snug by today's standards but wearable. There is additional fabric on the butt seam to let them out a bit, if needed. The fabric appears to be the same as the coat, and my guess is that it is a wool/poly blend. All of the black buttons, including six interior buttons for suspenders and a rear pocket button, are all still firmly sewed in place. The brass fly zipper works well, and the metal waistband clasp works well. The interior waist band has a firm ticking material sewed in that is aging and cracking, but that does not affect the exterior appearance of the trousers. There is very light wear evident on the back left pocket where a mans wallet rests, as these pants were obviously worn at work repeatedly. But overall the fabric is in very good condition with no stains or damage, and the creases and hems on the pants are still crisp. There is approximately two inches of additional fabric on the inside leg hem, if the pants needed to be let down from their 32 inch inseam.
There is no white tuxedo shirt or black neck tie included, but those two generic pieces could be purchased easily elsewhere to complete this full Haunted Mansion Butler uniform.
