Up for sale is a beautiful Philco Predicta Barberpole TV! I purchased this TV 12 years ago and did a partial restoration on it. Restoration included polishing the wood cabinet (the cabinet was in beautiful condition, all it needed was cleaning), having all the exterior Brass parts that hold the picture tube replated, and have the chassis tested and rebuilt. At the time, the... picture was very nice after everything was assembled, with good sound. I hooked up a DVD player with an RF modulator via coax cables and played (un-copy protected) old TV shows and commercials. TVs this old will not play back video with copy protection too well. The TV sat in my office during this time, only used once in a while. I recently moved and when I tried to run video on the TV I got a picture briefly but then it went away. I suspect one or more of the paper capacitors will need to be replaced. All of the vacuum tubes glow and there is sound. Therefore, I am selling the TV AS IS and encourage the winner to have the TV professionally tested before running it.
This Predicta TV is in beautiful condition. The picture tube chassis has no cracks and looks brand new. The TV chassis is also in beautiful condition with no cracks or scratches in the wood. The knobs are original and the only knob missing is the on/off knob. This is the only part that is missing from the TV. The Predicta TV is very clean and in like-new condition on the outside. Whether you plan to use the TV or not or just want to have a futuristic collectible from the 50's, this TV will surely be a conversation piece. You will most likely not find a Predicta TV like this in this condition. I can not guarantee how the TV would survive being shipped by today's shippers so this TV is for PICK-UP ONLY. I will include the RF modulator and cables, should you wish to get the TV working again and run videos. Happy bidding!
