Original Description:
Up for auction is a rare illuminated manuscript Book of Hours leaf on vellum, in Latin, French origin, circa 1470.  There are several small burnished gold initials and one large "B" initial on a burnished gold background.  Each side contains a pretty panel border consisting of acanthus leaves and flowers.  The highlight of the leaf is the butterfly miniature present in the middle of a panel border.  The leaf is in good condition.  There is some adhesive residu...e and a strip of tape in the outer margins.  The margins of the leaf have been cropped.  The leaf measures approx. 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches.
