OLD TALLY RITUAL BOOMERANG: ABORIGINAL

Beautiful 1800's hunting boomerang with carved tally marks.These markings have been stone knife cut into the blonde vein of the acacia boomerang for the counting of ceremonies.These marks ritualisticly set this weapon apart from the ordinary hunting boomerang.The carvings vary in number and are very finely cut and particulaly straight.It carries the earned loss of wood which appears to be very old as the patina has taken over the wound.Nicely adzed work on both sides.59 cms l...ong.
