This rare American Revolutionary War broadside from 1777 reads:
 "STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS - BAY IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AUGUST 11, 1777. WHEREAS it has been represented, that some of the Powder manufactured at the several Powder Mills in the State, has proved defective; and as there is a sufficient Quantity of imported Powder for the present Demand:    Therefore,
Resolved, That the Overseers of the Powder Mills be, and hereby are directed to receive all the... Powder by them manufactured, and to be sold by the Selectmen of any Town by Order of the General Assembly of this State, agreeable to a Resolve of the Ninth Instant, and return them the Money for the same. And the said selectmen are hereby authorized and empowered to apply to the Commissary-General of this State, for the like Quantity of imported Powder in Lieu thereof, who is hereby directed to deliver to the said Selectmen, on their Order, they paying for the same agreeable to the aforesaid Resolve.                And it is also

Resolved, That the said Overseers of the Powder Mills, or the Commissary, receive such manufactured Powder as they have delivered to any Persons, by Virtue of Certificates given to any Towns who lent their Powder to this or the United States, in the Year one Thousand seven Hundred and Seventy-five, and deliver up their said Certificates to them; and the Commissary-General is hereby directed to deliver then the same Quantity specified in said Certificates."
This rare broadside measures approx. 6 1/2 x 8 inches and is printed on hand laid paper.  
The back of this broadside was used for ciphering and is covered with numbers in ink. There are also some numbers on the front side in the top right corner.
