CIRCA: 1910-1920's
A phenomenal and historically important late 1800's early 1900's hand hammered coin silver Navajo concho belt. Fantastic round rosette like conchos each hand hammered and formed replete with signs of being handcrafted. A beautiful example for the collector of Native American artifact and the purist. The conchos have never been cleaned or polished, and retain over a hundred years of patina. Most likely the conchos would have been formed from coins, Morgan dollars, or small ingots of silver. Well decorated with symbolism reflective of the era. Each concho is a sizable 3 1/4" having a 7/8" diamond cutout for the 1/2" leather belt. The belt is terminated in a butterfly buckle. Nine conchos and the butterfly buckle comprise this 40" long belt. An asset to any studios collector of Native American artifacts.
