This an 8 foot bamboo fly rod marked “E. F. Payne Rod E.F. Payne Rod Co Makers” and “Sold By Abercrombie & Fitch New York”. It Is a three piece rod with two tips, one tip is short by about an inch and the other tip is a replacement made by Dennis Menscer of Little River Rods. Both tips have replacement ferrules which are accurate representations of original Payne ferrules. The bag appears to be a Payne bag but is a bit too long and probably didn’t go with this rod. The tube i...s a replacement. Has one ferrule plug for butt section ferrule. This rod weighs 3.8 ounces on my scale, and has size 10/64 and 15/64 ferrules. The grip has narrow cork rings. This is probably an early model 202 but I don’t know. I cast it with a 4 weight line and really enjoy how it feels, light in the hand yet powerful enough to handle a good amount of line in the air.
