This auction is for a very nice quality antique 7" paper guillotine or photographic trimmer which I would say dates back to the very early 1900s. It is a 'Jaynay' Patent Trimmer and carries their logo in the form of a ships wheel, made by J & A Wilkinson of Manchester. Wilkinsons were manufacturers in the early 1900s of photographic equipment - they manufacted many types and sizes of trimmers, but mostly these seem to be in ordinary wood. This one is in burr walnut and boxwood, wit...h a brass spring strip on the paper grip - it seems to be the Rolls Royce of their range. It is in good, used condition - there are a few dirty marks on the wood and some scratches in the centre, but other than this, there is no physical damage. The brass retains a lot of its original laquer. A very nice and very original example of one of these photographic trimmers.
