Antique McMonies Fishing Creel Willow & Tooled Leather Made In Portland Oregon

Rare antique McMonies fishing creel, made in Portland, Oregon in the early 1900's. The creel is made from what we believe is finely split willow with tooled leather binding and trim. The McMonies logo is stamped on the back, see picture 9.
Size: 15" length x 9 1/2" height x 6" depth. Strap is 40" in length from end to end on the outside of the creel.
Condition: The creel is an antique and it has been used. It is in fair condition ...given it's age and that it was used. Please note that we have not cleaned the creel. We prefer vintage patina and we will leave the decision about whether to leave it as found or do some restoration to the new owner. Dust and dirt have accumulated in some areas of the willow, particularly on the top. The interior bottom of the creel has accumulated dirt.
The leather is worn and discoloured on all surfaces, particularly the edges, hinge (both interior and exterior) and straps. The leather is dry and cracked from age and use in some places, particularly the hinge, shoulder strap and closure strap. The shoulder strap is creased from being stored folded. There is a small broken piece of leather attached to one of the shoulder strap rings. The thin white strip of leather which helps hold the top to the body of the creel has broken, visible in picture 12.
All of the metal fittings have some degree of age, use and exposure to the elements related corrosion. There is a bit of broken willow on the front right side, which is visible in picture 4. There is another small bit of broken willow on the back left side, it is not easily visible but we would like you to know it is there. Some of the willow which wraps the frame on the interior of the lid and the frame of the body of the creel below the hinge is missing, visible in picture 12. There is about 1" of missing willow on the bottom interior of the creel, visible in picture 12.

THE STRAP IS STAMPED WITH THE GEORGE LAWRENCE TRADEMARK, IT IS VISIBLE IN THE MAIN PHOTO BETWEEN THE TWO RIVETS. THE STRAP IS OF THE SAME VINTAGE AS THE CREEL. OUR APOLOGIES FOR MISSING THIS DETAIL IN THE ORIGINAL LISTING.
