C. 1841 EXQUISITE ANTIQUE SILHOUETTE With WATERCOLOR PAINTING BACKGROUND

This exquisite silhouette with a watercolor painted background is fresh from a Rhode Island estate! This interesting silhouette features a man seated at a table with a book in one hand and a seashell in the other hand and there are several seashells on the table and also on the floor. Also on the floor in silhouette is an Irish harp and painted below the harp are clovers. The silhouette is signed in the lower left "A.J. Depew 17th March 1841." I don't know if that is the name of the si...tter or the artist (I am not sure the name is Depew). Also on the floor is a armored breast plate and a shield. There are several paintings hanging on the wall including a famous painting of Venus and Adonis by Titian.
My guess is the man seated is a wealthy Irish aristocrat or perhaps a conchologist. The silhouette measures approx. 10 x 13 inches and is in a 13 x 16 inch gilt wooden frame. This wonderful silhouette is in a fine state of preservation! There is some minor wear to the gilt wooden frame. As with all my Ebay items I am starting this auction at $9.99 with NO RESERVE!
