This scarce Leonard 1877 Patent fly reel is 2-5/8" in diameter, including the pillars.

Collector's refer to this Juilus vom Hofe made reel as the "Bi-Metal" because it is made of two metals: bronze and German silver.

Some of the "H.L. Leonard - Pat. No 19181" stamp is either worn, or was not deeply struck.

The reel is tight and clean with a good click, excellent screws and a full length foot that has a slight bend on one side.

Note there is a small scr...atch next to the screw at 3:00 on the front-plate, which is clearly visible in the first picture.

A very handsome, classic reel.
