Although their is no mention of the contents, on the pot itself, the consensus of opinion by most authorities, researchers and experienced collector's....is that the contents which were retailed in this small pot, was Bears Grease. For any viewers who may not know wh...at Bears grease was used for: In theVictorian era it was believed that the grease from a bear carcass couldstimulate hair growth and help prevent baldness. The grease was scraped off thefatty parts of the Bear skin & carcass & mixed with various perfumes tomake it more appealing. It was then marketed in these small pots & pot lids, (& used extensively) as a men's cosmetic. A great piece to add to a collection, or to display as a Victorian oddity, somewhere in your home!
The pot has a diameter of 2 5/8" and stands 2 1/4" tall (see a comparison for size, with a regular can of Coke in the last pic.Condition: For full condition reportplease see "Item specifics/Seller notes" above and check out all thepics as they form an important part of the overall description.ALL CALIFORNIA BUYERS (ONLY CALIFORNIANS!)ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE CALIFORNIAN STATE TAX.
