Up for auction are two pairs of antique prismatic opera glasses which are relatively rare. Most opera prismatics of this time period (early 1900's) were based on the Carl Zeiss Teleater model - these are different and appear to be French with regard to manufacture. The first pair is signed "Lumina" and the barrels are covered with attractive abalone panels. Externally the glass is in excellent shape. The glass is in collimation, however the internal prism system... is quite dirty though an OK image can be obtained. The second pair is signed "Regina Paris 3 1/2 Power"; I cannot make out the script on the other end plate (consult the attached pictures). The barrels of this glass are covered with white mother of pearl panels. Externally this glass is in excellent shape. Internally there is a bit of haze in the internal prism system, but the glass is in collimation and delivers a nice image. The bodies of these two glasses are polished aluminum which was a rare material when these were made. Buyer pays shipping and required insurance ($15.00 in continental USA and $55.00 international).
