Up for auction are two relatively rare prismatic opera glasses from the early 1900's. Most of the glases from this time period were non-prismatic, and the prismatics that were present were largely based on the Zeiss Teleater design. These are different, unusual and likely French made. The first pair is unmarked. The barrels of this glass are covered with mother of pearl panels. The exposed metal components of this glass are patterned aluminum. This glass is in c...ollimation and delivers a good image despite some haze in the internal prism system. The second glass is marked "Mappin & Webb Paris Rome." The barrels of this glass are covered with mother of pearl. The gold washed brass components are in good shape. Like the first glass the optics are in collimation, but have a few specks of dust in the internal prism system. This glass has a 3-part telescoping handle.
