A rare antique english wood bread board with carved surround, crest of WINCHESTER COLLEGE and the motto 'MANNERS MAKYTH MAN' . By repute, this was made from the wood recovered from underneath Winchester Cathedral by William Walker MVO ( 1869--1918) , an english diver famous for shoring up the southern and eastern sides of Winchester Cathedral between the years of 1906 and 1911. ( the cathedral had been in imminent danger of collapse and had to be shored up with concrete and bricks.) T...he board is in good condition., a few cut marks where used and appears to have been hung on wall for rest of its life as it has a small hook eye to rear.
