Published in 1997, the first edition of The Clubmaker's Art received widespread acclaim. Golf World listed it among the top 10 golf books of the 20th century. Travel and Leisure Golf called it the "heavyweight champion-literally" and included it on a list of the top 25 golf books ever written. It won the prestigious Murdoch Medal, awarded in Great Britain for outstanding achievement in golf literature.
The best is now bigger and better. The Clubmaker's Art - Second Edition Revised and Expanded consists of 784 pages in two volumes in a slipcase. It includes every club found in the first edition plus 220 more. The page size is 20% larger than the first edition. The complete set weights 15 pounds 9 ounces, twice that of the first edition. All the original images have been redone, and over 400 new images have been added. All the layouts have been reworked and extensive new information has been included. Many exceedingly rare and historically important clubs have been added to every chapter in the book. The section on fakes and replicas is five times as large as that in the first edition.
