Gorgeous, rare amber one cut Charlottes from the mid 1800's on the original master hank. These measure 26 beads per inch, slightly smaller than a 14/0. The original hank has five hanks tied together on it, and there is one separate and another small portion of a hank. The total weight for all is 13.8 grams.
I finally went through all of my personal collection of beads that are housed in 52 plastic storage cases, and pulled out all of the rare, Victorian one-cuts an...d took an inventory of what I have. I have had several customers ask me for authentic, Victorian one-cut Charlottes and at times, I have pinched off amounts from my collection, but I never really sorted through everything to see what I have.
I have decided to offer some of my best Charlottes to help raise money for my non-profit organization, Allclimbers.org, that helps people in addiction recovery, people with developmental disabilities, and disabled Veterans to learn to rock climb. Until the IRS sends my final approval letter for my 501c3, I have had to fund this out of my own pocket by working four jobs, but I see what a difference it makes in peoples' lives. A young man with autism actually spoke clearly for the first time, after climbing at one of my recent group events. I think that's worth giving up some beads I have held onto for a long time!
These Charlottes were part of a collection that I acquired from a wonderful woman whose great-great-grandmother was a master bead worker, making gorgeous beaded handbags in the 1800's. She was a wealthy railroad heiress and had enough resources to travel around the world by train and acquire these beads. These are very rare, exquisite beads. I don't use them in purse repair much, however, but I have customers who do Native American bead work, and other gorgeous projects, and they long for these beads. Please realize that when these are gone, we will never again have access to these, so please bid accordingly. And know that your bead dollars are going toward helping people with disabilities or addiction to learn a skill that helps them add a new level of joy and achievement to their lives.
