Original Description:
This is for a beautiful American travelling dip pen from around 1880. It has a detachable wooden shaft so it splits up into two pieces and fits into its little leather covered travel box. The gold filled nib mount has a fine engine turned design and it is fitted with a solid 14ct Gold no4 nib marked by the maker A Morton of New York. The tapered handle has a black paint finish with a brass mount that holds the nib holder perfectly tightly. It is in excellent condition with no damage. T...he box is moulded inside to hold the two parts and it is complete with the brass catches at the front. The back of the box has been taped in the past to replace any hinges that would have worn. The pen measures 144mm (5.5") long not measuring the nib.
