Original Description:
"SULLY" by BOB BAKER , MARIONETTE. Condition is Used. This marionette is from the original line of Bob Baker made some time between the mid 30's to mid 40's. It is one of the more rare toy puppets he sold. I dont know the history of his individual puppets but i believe this puppet was done around the time he made and shown his Bill "Bojangles" Robinson puppet, the great dancer. Bill Robinson was one of the great dancers, i remember enjoying him in the movies with Shirley Temple. Like t...he "Bojangles" marionette, this puppet, "Sully" he too wears a satin tuxedo, white dress shirt (all though faded) and shoes. When i acquired this puppet I thought I would restore him. But life sometimes gets in our way. And after a few setbacks and a couple of grand children i have not had the time. So I have decided to let some one else give him back his glory. Someone in his past tried (but it should be revisited.) A few brushes of paint that arent too noticeable and patches on his legs, under his clothing. He is missing his arms and hands. But I can include the hand pattern and pix of what it should look like. Inexpensive fix but should be done as original.  He is also missing strings and controll sticks. His clothes will need pressing but are in fair shape, see pict#4 there is a small tear and a worn spot on his shoulder in another picture. "Sully" is a great example of a marionette by Bob Baker. I have many of his disney characters as well as "Bill" the sailor, who belonged to my dad. It saddens me to say goodbye to Sully but its not fair for him to just sit in a box. He is well worthy of restoration and to be enjoyed and displayed. There are some archived web stories about bob baker and his puppets if you like internet searching. Definitely current information about bob bakers puppet theater in the los angels area. He was one of the great puppeteers. Worked on many disney projects and his his puppets were some of the most favorites.
So "Sully" was one of Bob Bakers early marionettes, ther were, salor Bill, Judy (judy garland, ) a gypsy girl, Cleo and Sully were dancers, and a dog, Mickey and Minnie Mouse at some time and of course the Pinocchio for the animated movie. There is a video of Bob Baker's "Bojangles" the famous Bill Robinson actor and dancer, in videos online.  If any one knows more about him I would enjoy learning. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.  U. S. CONTINUOUS 48 STATES SHIPPING ONLY. IF NOT SURE PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING.
