Antique/Vintage 1930s BARR Yiddish Language Portable Typewriter
This typewriter is a double rarity. For one thing, it is a Yiddish-language machine. For another, it’s made by Barr, a small typewriter brand that was only around in the 20s and 30s. I’ve never seen one before, but if this one is representative, they’re very idiosyncratic typewriters. I can find zero other examples of a Barr Yiddish typewriter.
This typewriter is “basement fresh” and needs a... thorough cleaning. I was surprised to find that all keys but one work well (one gets stuck). The typewriter works, but does not feel particularly smooth. The bell is loose and is in the case.
The case is in good condition, appears to be original to the Barr, and has its key.
