I've set this listing up to automatically accept ANY offer equal to the opening bid......so if you want this lamp, you can bid $560 and it's yours!
If you’re only looking for one Emeralite lamp, then here’s one of the finest all original Emeralite “square double knuckle” lamps that you will find. Unlike many of the other Emeralite lamps out there, this one has no chips to the shade, no dents to the base, and no blemishes or rust to the patina. The lamp was probably pol...ished sometime in the past, but the patina has now toned to a warm satin finish.....it's really a great patina. In addition, the shade still retains its original Emeralite decal on the back of the glass, so you know the shade is not one of those cheap reproductions. The shade holder also retains the original EMERALITE name plaque. The socket sleeve is also completely original. All exposed parts of the lamp are polished brass. Since the decal on the shade has both the 1909 and 1916 patent dates, the manufacture of this particular lamp can be dated to almost exactly 1916 since that's the year when Emeralite changed from the earlier 4378 to the later 8734 model and used one style decal for both models. The lamp is referred to as a “double knuckle” since there are two places to adjust the shaft……one behind the shade and one at the bottom of the shaft. This allows the user to position both the arm and the shade to achieve whatever position is desired, not just the three shown. As such, the lamp can be used on a flat top desk, a roll top desk, on top of spinet piano, on top of a display cabinet with the shade positioned directly into the cabinet, on a shelf, etc., etc. As I mentioned above, if you’re looking for a super clean, presentable Emeralite desk lamp that will display quality and look impressive in your home, then this one has no apologies. Thanks for looking and good luck if you decide to bid! Please DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY until you receive an invoice that will include actual shipping and insurance charges, which could be a little more or less than the amount shown above. The shipping shown above is only an estimate and the winner will be invoiced for the actual shipping charges, including insurance, not the amount shown. I do NOT make a profit on shipping and only ask to be reimbursed for the actual charges…..but I’d rather not lose on shipping either. So, please ignore the shipping charges shown, as shipping will depend on where you live, and could be very expensive if you live outside the US. If you are not prepared to pay actual shipping costs, then I would be very grateful if you not bid, as I wouldn't want any misunderstandings to occur after the auction ends.
