1864c J. A. Weir " THE GLOBE " Sewing Machine " CHAS RAYMOND "

Item History & Price

Information:
Reference Number: Avaluer:316142
Original Description:
For Auction, 1864c "The Globe" or sometimes call the "Weir 55" (due to the cost at 55 shillings) portable sewing machine sold by J.G. Weir of London. Originally produced by Chas Raymond of Canada, these machine were re-badged by Weir and sold in the UK as his own. This is a great example and has survived all these year in good condition and perfectly functional. On the center decal it would have read "James G. Weir, Patent, London), you can just make out the James on the upper edge of ...the decal. This particular machine was made between 1864 and 1886, sold in London with "J A Weir" and "2 Carlisle Street Soho London" stamped on the needle plate. This machine is the size of a toy machine but was a perfectly functional sewing machine in its time, and still is. The action is smooth and everything works. It would be a great addition to any collection. I have set the price low and I'm offering free standard shipping.
The last picture features 6 other sewing machines I have up for auction and is to give you an idea of the size of the machines.
Shipping cost are for the lower 48 only, all other please email. All machines are fully insured and will be professionally packed and shipped so they arrive in perfect condition. Please email if you have any questions.
