Some excellent quality bracket clocks please keep your eyes open over the next few months PROVINENCE This is an ultra rare very collectable original public tube station electro mechanical clock. This has just come from a gentleman who had this passed down to him by a worker of the Angel tube station in islington in the 70's when they upgraded their clock systems. I will try and describe it as best i can below In 1905 the self winding clock company was given the contract to install a very complex electric clock system into the londons underground station where there was a master clock which run all the slave clocks to all the stations including this one. 600 clocks in total were installed on the london underground in 3 different stages 1905-1908, 1910-1912 and the last stage was in 1929 and this one was one of the very first ones installed in 1905. The serial numbers of the first clocks installed started at 43, ??? something this one i have is 43, 437 so would have been one of the very first clocks installed on the london underground in 1905. There is a plate also on the movement with ASW 21 which i presume is for Angel Station no 21 maybe I have a printout included with the sale explaining most of the above with serial numbers and approx dates of the london underground clocks with information on the self winding clock company and a bit of history about them and the london underground and who commissioned it etc. I also have a printout of detailed instructions and drawings of the clock movement and what all parts are and what they do etc so quite nice to have with the clock THE CASE This is an exceptional antique C1905 solid oak original london underground electro mechanical public clock, the case in the form of the London Underground roundel logo with dove tail joints to the solid wood case with the original fixings to the top of the case where it would have hung on the stations bracket The central part of the case hinges open to reveal access to the white dial and original electro mechanical self winding movement and pendulum
The case is all constructed of oak with a beautiful colouring to it and it is of superior quality with dove tail joint construction
The case has a superb patina and colour to it which is acquired through age which looks absolutely stunning as i am sure you would agree from the pics
The case is in excellent condition for age and looks absolutely stunning wherever it is displayed with no sign of woodworm past or present THE DIAL The clock benefits from a white circular 14 inch diameter dial with original hands and numeral baton markers.The underground maintained their clocks very well so i doubt if the dial is the the one it started life with but it is an original london underground dial
THE MOVEMENT The clock benefits from its original high quality electro mechanical 120-beat style F1/2 self winding mechanism by The Self Winding Clock Co. The movement is fully mechanical with its own anchor escapement and pendulum. The only part of the movement which is electrical is the self winding system which would have been wired to the master clock and that would send an impulse to each slave clock to wind it, this saved the station masters from manually winding the clocks weekly. All this is explained in the printed out instructions which are included in the sale. All its original wiring is still here so the new owner could supply a suitable power pack to run the movement as it should. I am not sure what power pack would be needed but it is all explained in the detailed 15 A4 page instructions which are quite simple to understand as there is drawings and diagrams everywhere
The movement is very unusual and a high quality thought out mechanism as you would expect from a public station clock The movement is in excellent clean order and ticks over when manually tested but will need an appropriate power supply to get it to work
I cannot stress enough the quality of this clock. it really is a high quality tube station wall clock. A superb high quality collectable clock and a sure investment for the future The movement has the serial number 47, 437 impressed to the top of it with a station plaque to the front of it with the letters ASW 21 for angel station maybe station number 21 i am not sure. Under this station plaque there is 3 patent dates
MEASUREMENTS The clock has superb proportions measuring 19 inches high x 29 inches across x 7.5 inches Deep
APPROX DATE Circa 1905 This is a rare fantastic looking original london underground tube station clock in the form of the london underground roundel logo which makes it a perfect investment clock and a beautiful display piece. Looks absolutely fantastic wherever it is displayed and a true talking point of any room

If on the rare occasion you receive a clock that has a problem or does not work after initial set up and adjusting by a professional person then we reserve the right for you to return the mechanism for repair by myself
There will be no refunds if the mechanism needs repair. I reserve the right for the mechanism to be returned to me for repair
I offer a 6 months return to base warranty on all my mechanisms (unless stated not working in description)
In case of a problem after a professional has attempted to set the clock up you can return the mechanism back to me for repair
Please do not take the mechanism to a local clock maker/repairer as this will render the warranty void. All repairs needed to the mechanism will be carried out by myself and not by a 3rd party clock maker/repairer unless agreed by myself beforehand. please contact me in the first instance to arrange return of the mechanism for repair by myself
Shipping the mechanism back to me will be at the buyers cost and i will pay to get the mechanism back to you after repair
All repair costs will be met by myself for 6 months after purchase. If a mechanism is faulty after 6 months then i can offer a repair service for a discounted price but this cost will be met by the buyer if after 6 months of purchase
