Here is a glorious 3 glass, 8 day, pendulum mantle clock made by the Hamburg American Clock Company c1900. This lovey, elegant clock is in superb original condition, with fantastic warm honey colour and patina to the stylish case. It has glass to the front and to the sides, which allows sight of the movement and pendulum as it ticks away. It stands 12 inches high, 8 inches wide and 6 inches deep, so perfect for either a modern mantle or the more period mantle.Inside beats the 8 day, p...endulum movement made by the Hamburg American Clock Company (their "crossed arrows" logo is stamped to the rear of the movement), who despite their name, hail from the heart of the Black Forest of Germany. This company had their start in the middle of the 1800s before being swallowed up in the Junghans clock company in the 1930s. It strikes the half and full hours on a fabulously tuneful coiled gong...and is in full working order, complete with a key, ready to go. The clock is 100+ years old and to my mind looks superb. It has been used and obviously much loved. The glorious patina, the fabulous colour, are all testaments to its long, long past, and all add so much more to the character of the piece. As mentioned, fully working, keeping good time, chiming beautifully and looking superbly elegant.
