AntiqueHand Beaded BristolBoard NeedleBook English* Dated 1838 Thiswonderful antique needle bookwas made by a girl or lady in the same year that Queen Victoria wascrowned. Her name was Charlotte Coultart and she personalized it bystitching her name and the date in tiny glass beads (August 1, 1838).The covers areperforated paper (calledBristol Boardby theVictorians) and are an exceptionally fine count (25 holes to the inch).The borders are h...eavy card embossed with roses, shamrocks and thistles(the symbols for England, Ireland and Scotland). They've beenbeautifully hand colored on both sides. This could well have been apiece meant to commemorate Queen Victoria's coronation. Inside it islined with silk moire and ithas a finely twilled wool page to hold needles. The needle page isedged with blue silk embroidery. Theentire piece looks to be original. Theconditionis excellent for a fragile piece of this age. It's missing a few beadsat the edges of a couple of letters, but the silk, wool and paper arein great condition with no loss. Itmeasures 3 3/4" by 2 3/4".
