CharmingAntique Child's Workbox &Tools English* Circa1850 Thisminiature workbox is madeof beautifully grained wood with boxwood stringing. The front is inlaidwith a bone key escutcheon and it sits on four little brass ball feet(original). Inside the top is a leather lined tool pad with loops forthe tools. That drops down and behind is a paper envelope to holdtreasures and wool needle pages for loose pins and needles. Theenvelope holds a tiny feather and... some paper floral cutouts. The bottomof the box has compartments lined with silk. The tools include a bone*stiletto, needle case, bodkin and tatting shuttle. There are also 2small mother of pearl and bone spools, tiny steelscissors, a tatting pick, a packet of needles, a silver thimble and theworking key with a silk tassel.
Thescissors measure 2 3/4" long, have intact points and cut well. TheEnglish thimble tests sterling silver and has a steel top. It has anengraved band and is about an American child's size 4 (12.8 mm diameteropening). The condition is excellent with no damage at all. The othertools are also in great condition with no chips, cracks or otherdamage. The spools are 7/8" in diameter and 1" tall. The little tattingshuttle is 2 1/4" long x almost 1/2" wide.
Thebox is in excellentcondition withno chips orcracks in the wood andstrong, original hinges. The interior is also in wonderful condition and it alllooks to be original. It measures 5 1/4" wide by 3 3/4" deep by 2 3/4"high.
