(World War I) SPRINGFIELD RIFLE (Model 1912) Training Bayonet

This is a World War I, Training Bayonet that was made for a Model 1912 Springfield Rifle. The 8-32 Black Steel set screws are new as the original set screws were missing. There is slight pitting due to surface rust as can be seen in the photos. The only thing I did to it was to wire brush it to remove the powdery surface rust, added new set screws and wiped it with oil to prevent corrosion. This was most likely made in Springfield Massachusetts in the early 1900's. The holes... that fit over the gun barrel are 0.75 inches in diameter. I had this for years and thought it was an antique wagon part. Showed it to my stepson and commented that it would not make a very goon bayonet. He suggested that it may be a practice bayonet and "Voila" there was another one on eBay of the same design.
