Original 48" x 72" flag is cotton / linen hand crafted with stars sewn on both sides of the blue field. 2 Brass grommets.
Colors are still quite vivid on this flag indicating it was not flown long or displayed in bright light.
Overall this flag is in excellent condition and far better than normally seen. A few small areas of wear from flying are pictured along with a few small holes and some sta...ining One seam at the top has come apart apx. 1.5"...an easy fix for anyone handy with needle & thread.
Bright spot in first picture is camera glare...not a hole.
Great condition for a 157 year old flag.
This flag became the official flag of The U.S. on July 4th, 1861 when a star was added for Kansas. The 34 star flag was used for 2 years until July 4th, 1863 when West Virginia was added to the Union.The only president to serve under this flag was Abraham Lincoln.
