You are bidding on an original CDV of 1st Lt. A.C. Montgomery of the 83rd Pennsylvania Regiment and wife. If you look closely on the left side of Montgomerys shirt, you will see that he is wearing the 5th Corps badge. This CDV has no back mark, but has written at the top, "Lt AC Montgomery and Wife."
Lt. AC Montgomery was promoted from private to Corporal; to 2d Lt., September 15, 1862; to 1st Lieut., May 23, 1863; wounded at Malvern Hill, July 1, 1862; captured at Laurel Hill..., Va., May 8, 1864; mustered out, September 20, 1864; expiration of term.
This CDV will make a great addition to any civil war collection. This CDV was located along with others from the 83rd PA and 44th NY in the attic of a Charleston, SC home.
