Being offered is a very nice old antique pakayun sword from the Dayak tribes of Borneo. This 19th century example measures 34 1/2” long from the bottom of the scabbard to the top of the handle. The handle has a long brass ferrule made integral with the guard. The ferrule with multiple rings. The upper portion of the handle is wood with nice carvings below the forked pommel on both sides. One of the pommel tips is broken. There is a very fine rattan... weave just above the brass ferrule. The curved blade shows active lamination lines throughout the blade. You have double fullers ear the spine on both sides. The blade is covered in a thin layer of oil residue that would easily clean off and really help the pattern pop. The scabbard is thick and heavy and probably made from ironwood. There are some rattan bands at the top and then 8 thin metal bands from the top to the bottom of the scabbard. The scabbard bottom has several hair extensions. Unsure if it is human hair or animal hair. A rare sword in good condition overall with finely laminated blade. Please e-mail with any questions.
